At Girl Lane we are absolutely committed to finding the best active ingredients to support young skin.
Whenever possible, we use ingredients that are natural or of natural origin, and only use synthetic ingredients when necessary.
Our plant based active ingredients meet all requirements for safety, efficacy and enjoyment in use. If a natural ingredient cannot give the optimal result we want from our skincare, or where there is no natural alternative, we use synthetic ingredients. We believe our products strike the perfect balance between scientific and botanical formulations.
Girl Lane is deeply concerned about the use of Palm Oil in cosmetics, causing widespread deforestation and sustainability issues.
We do not use Palm Oil as a discreet entity, however some botanical ingredients may contain derivatives of Palm Oil, as we choose to use botanical alternatives over animal extracted ingredients.
Our suppliers are members of RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil), which collaborates towards the production of sustainable Palm oil.
Our products are free from animal testing.
Dermatological tests performed on our SPF 50+ sunscreen range have been performed on human subjects using standard test procedures on willing test subjects.
Girl Lane uses some ingredients generated by animals, for example beeswax and lanolin.
We do not use ingredients derived through the death or harm of an animal. We use botanical substitutes as our source of glycerin and fatty acids.
Girl Lane believes our products are suitable for vegan use, because we are against animal testing and no animal has been harmed or killed to source materials.
We do use animal generates such as lanolin and beeswax which are used in place of non-renewable, synthetic ingredients, but which can be sourced with no harm to animals.
Ingredients for each product are detailed on our website, so you can quickly see which of our products are vegan friendly. Alternatively, please refer to the ingredients listing on our product packaging.

All our products are formulated in Australia and our company is 100% Australian Owned.
Twelve of our fifteen products are manufactured in Australia.
Our three signature products – Gentle Cleansing Face Wipes, Intensive Hydration Mist and Hair Sparkle Shine are made in South Korea in state of the art manufacturing facilities. We chose South Korean manufacturers for these three products because the technology required to manufacture is not available in Australia, and we did not want to compromise on any aspect of them.
All raw ingredients used in Girl Lane products are approved for use by the National Industrial Chemicals Notification & Assessment Scheme (NICNAS).
Girl Lane sunscreens are manufactured in a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved facility in Melbourne and contain the highest level of sun protection.
Our pharmacist has over 15 years industry experience and has selected ingredients which are free from known irritants and allergens, which are gentle with a mild pH and which are suitable for girl's skin.
Careful consideration was given by our pharmacist when deciding the best ingredients for use in our range.
Whilst none of our products contain peanuts, the following products contain Macadamia Oil: Gentle Face Wash, Paw Paw Lip Balm, Hydrating Shampoo, Strengthening Conditioner. Macadamia Oil is contained in our products because it closely mimics oils found in the skin and is a wonderful alternative to petroleum or animal based products.
Although commonly referred to as a “tree nut”, Macadamia is actually a fruit. In the manufacturing process, Macadamia Oil is heated to remove the protein which causes an allergic response in a sensitive person.
Having said that, we strongly advise carefully reading all labels and seeking professional advice in relation to allergy-based sensitivities.
Our product range is most definitely suitable for girls with eczema. The ingredients chosen are gentle and kind to dry skin. There is no cure for eczema, but good daily skin care is vital in order to control the condition. Basic skin care can in fact enhance the effect of medicated eczema products (which are required during flare ups) and can prevent or at least minimise the severity of a relapse of symptoms.
As eczema skin loses moisture more rapidly than normal skin, our moisturising lotion focuses on enabling the skin to retain moisture for longer. For the body, I would suggest lightly soaking the skin in Luke warm water (not hot water) at the end of the day (the body is more able to hold onto moisture at night). This allows better absorption of moisturisers. Pat the skin dry and apply our lotion generously. The glycerin, aloe and avocado oil will be incredibly soothing and provide relief. Reapply body lotion frequently (at least twice a day) and more so over winter when eczema can be much worse.
Using pH balanced washes, shampoos and conditioners (like ours) will also minimize relapses.
Our face range is also fragrance free and gentle and can be used, I would suggest using the face wash in dry skin and tissuing off without water (which may be drying) follow with the nourishing moisturiser twice a day and cover with our sunscreen. (I wouldn't suggest the combined moisturiser/sunscreen in this instance as the skin requires more moisture and the EDF is a light-weight moisturiser. xo
Our Girl Lane pharmacist advises that it is crucial to wash your face before bed everyday. The skin has been exposed all day to sunscreen, makeup, bacteria, dirt, pollution and oil. This layer of grime can quickly lead to clogged pores, acne and collagen breakdown over time.
Washing your face with Girl Lane Face Wash is ideal but not always practical! Using a wipe is a whole lot better than doing nothing, and can be used as a makeup remover or on occasions when you just can’t bring yourself to do a full skincare routine.
Girl Lane Gentle Cleansing Wipes are also fantastic for removing excess oil during the day or for removing sweat after exercise.
Of course, always remember to reapply sunscreen if appropriate following use of a wipe. For best results, use Girl Lane Gentle Cleansing Wipes.
Our pharmacist has been advising on suitable skincare products for all skin types for over 15 years.
Our ingredients have been selected based on effectiveness, with a clear focus on being gentle, pH balanced and protective.
We are confident our Girl Lane products will not irritate sensitive skin, but we always advise to perform a patch test for girls with very sensitive skin.
